Dhingra Has Big Lead Over Englund In New Poll
The Washington Wire poll shows Democrat Manka Dhingra leading Republican Jinyoung Lee Englund in the state's most-watched race.

REDMOND, WA - A new poll from Washington Wire indicates that Democrat Manka Dhingra has a big lead over Republican Jinyoung Lee Englund. Manka is leading Englund 51 to 39 percent among likely voters in the 45th Legislative District state Senate race. The race is likely the most important in the state this year because it will determine which party controls state government.
Dhingra came out ahead of Englund in the August primary by about 10 points 52 percent to 42 percent. If the Washington Wire poll is accurate, Englund has lost ground since August.
The poll was conducted last week and includes survey responses from 401 voters who participated in the last three elections. The poll questions focused on a variety of political issues, and the responses tended to favor Democrats.

For example, the poll asked how favorably the voters view President Donald Trump. More than 60 percent strongly or somewhat disapprove of him. And more than 50 percent view the Republican party as a whole either very or somewhat unfavorably. The Democratic party, however, was viewed unfavorably by about 40 percent of the respondents.
