Earth Day 2015
Check out our helpful tips to find easy ways you can practice responsible recycling at home!

April 22nd marks the annual celebration of Earth Day, which pays tribute to not only world peace, but also environmental sustainability. At InSpa, we are always looking for new ways to embrace eco-friendly measures by recycling and using environmentally friendly packaging. We’ve also added a waterless pedicure to our menu of services, which provides all the benefits of a regular pedicure and more.
We pride ourselves on carrying eco-consciously packaged products and dispose of them appropriately. More recently, the award-winning HydroPeptide product line we carry received an excellence award from The Paperboard Packaging Council for using recyclable packaging material. Practicing responsible recycling can be easily implemented into your daily routine and we have come up with a few ways to kick start Earth Day a little early.
Here are a few easy eco-friendly tips to implement in your routine:

· Use what you need. Specifically, when using skin care products, use the recommended amount. Often times, only a small dime size of product (even less) will do the trick. This not only helps your coveted skin care last longer, but saves you from making frequent purchases.
· Before dumping empty bottles and containers in the garbage, double-check the packaging for recyclable material. Some companies even have incentives if you return empty packaging. Check for the universal recycling symbol on the back or bottom of products.

· If you haven’t already, eliminate plastic bags and use brown paper bags for your recyclables and garbage. Alternatively, you can use existing plastic bags for multiple shopping trips.
· Compost. Using compost friendly bags, throwing away food and garden waste in a separate bag helps conserve earth’s natural resources. These items are able to decompose back into the earth. · Purchase batteries that are rechargeable. These can be found at most, if not at all, electronic stores and some grocery stores. Using rechargeable batteries protects the environment and conserves resources as they contain hazardous materials if not disposed of properly.
· Recycle or sell used phones and computers. By donating or selling these electronics, energy use is significantly reduced and the reuse of material is possible. Many manufacturers offer donation or recycling programs, use this search to find one near you.
· Donate clothing or unwanted goods instead of throwing them out. Clothing donation bins and pick-ups are becoming more prevalent and are a perfect place for your unwanted belongings.
· Carpool. This not only saves the earth, but also benefits your gas expenses. Cutting down the number of vehicles on the road significantly decreases the amount of harmful carbon dioxide and monoxide emitted into the atmosphere and speeds up your journey with access to HOV lanes.
· Use alternative methods to purchasing cleaning products containing hazardous material. Most household cleaning solutions contain harmful and toxic ingredients, even when disguised as “non toxic”. When washed down the drains and disposed of, these products are then released into the environment. For homemade, natural cleaning solution alternatives, search here.
· Educate others. Share with your friends and family how you cut down on waste or properly recycle. This is the simplest measure that could make all the difference.
