Interval Training at Flow Yoga of Redmond

Interval training … at a yoga studio?

Full Body Circuit is a new non-conventional fitness class being offered at Flow Yoga of Redmond is a great way to get in shape and is an excellent complement to one’s yoga practice.  Full body refers to the incorporation of your entire body (not just specific muscle groups) as you challenge your strength, balance and endurance using only the weight of your own body. Body weight exercises are grouped together in a circuit where each exercise is performed for a specified time interval (aka interval training).

Like the practice of yoga, Full Body Circuit fosters heightened body awareness; especially mindful breathing. Proper breathing is a cornerstone in Flow Yoga and is also constantly reinforced in this class.  You will work on bringing a rhythm to your breathing as you use your own body weight to tone, shape, and condition your body from head to toe. The exercises are performed in 30 second intervals at high intensity followed by 10 seconds of rest. This sequence is repeated until all of the exercises in a circuit have been performed. You will increase your strength, build muscle endurance and elevate your metabolic rate (several studies have shown metabolic rate can stay elevated for up to 24 hours after this type of interval training).
