Embracing the community around us
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to tell your friends/neighbors/co-workers: "I go to this mosque" and they actually know where it is, regonize it, have been to it and have had good experiences there? Wouldn't it be nice if your daughter can tell her friends at high-school that attends a mosque and they actually know it and love the place and think that it offers great services to the community?
The MAPS Interfaith and Outreach Committee has a vision to help this come about. We are launching a new community cultural series called "Many Cultures, One Community" (MCOC) aimed at inviting our wider community to MAPS to attend cultural events that help build bridges of understanding and appreciation of one another. The series will offer well-made and informative documentaries or community forums that offer information exchange as well as a chance to experience aspects of Muslim culture and ask questions.
Our first event, is this April 17th, God willing. The event is:
Movie showing: The highly reviewed documentary "Inside Islam, what a billion Muslims really think" (running time: 1 hour)
When: Tuesday, April 17th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Where: MAPS - 17550 NE 67th CT, Redmond, WA 98052
Food? A $5 dinner is available.
Child are always welcome!
