Gun Fired During Arrest In Redmond Parking Lot
Redmond PD said a Bellevue police officer's gun was unintentionally fired as he tried to separate two dogs.
REDMOND, WA — Redmond police are investigating after a gun was fired by a plainclothes Bellevue officer during an arrest Tuesday night. According to Redmond PD, Bellevue officers were helping Kirkland Police track a woman with several felony warrants. Police said she is a prolific offender with a lengthy criminal history on the Eastside.
Bellevue officers found the suspect's car in the parking lot of Bear Creek Village in Redmond just before 6 p.m. After police removed the woman from the vehicle, a dog jumped out and attacked a dog nearby. As an officer attempted to separate the dogs, police said he unintentionally fired his gun, striking the pavement.
Redmond PD was not involved in the arrest, but are handling the case since it involves a neighboring agency. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact investigators at 425-556-2500 or email mailto: police@redmond.gov.
