Martin Luther King Jr. asked us to build “dikes of courage to hold back the flood of fear”. Fear of Islam spreads when the truth is twisted or ignored. Reliable information about Islam is not coming from extremists or enemies. Fortunately, the Todd Herman show on 770 conservative talk radio, presented an interview with Rashid Reno, a local representative of TrueIslam.com. Mr. Reno described a public awareness campaign via the Internet to address the concerns about the religion of Islam. When asked about the misconception that leaving the faith of Islam warrants the death penalty, Mr. Reno explained that there are 11 verses in the Quran which contradict this belief and that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) never punished those who left Islam during his lifetime. This false idea is rooted in political power struggles which developed over time. One can learn more at the website, TrueIslam.com. 11 points based on Quranic references and sayings of Prophet Muhammad counter the distorted doctrine of ISIS and likeminded groups.
