Local 302 Strike Slows 5 Redmond Construction Projects
The International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 302 went on strike Tuesday, halting construction projects around the region.

REDMOND, WA - At least five construction projects in Redmond have been directly affected by an ongoing International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 302 strike. Another four projects will be affected if the strike lasts longer than a few weeks, according to city officials.
The strike began Tuesday morning when laborers refused to works at construction at sites in cities around the region, including many in downtown Seattle. The union has been negotiating a new labor agreement with construction contractors for three months. The union members rejected the last agreement that was proposed last Thursday.
According to Redmond city officials, 17 city construction projects are affected by the strike. But only nine are immediately affected.
