A Look at Vermeer and Hopper: Narrative or Voyeurism
We will examine the works of the Dutch 17th century painter Johannes Vermeer with those of the 20th century American painter Edward Hopper.
We will examine the works of the Dutch 17th century painter Johannes Vermeer with those of the 20th century American painter Edward Hopper. Although centuries and worlds apart, both these artists created genre paintings with a sense of intrigue. Analyzing their paintings through their likely symbolism, composition and use of light, we will uncover some of their mystery.
