LWSD Students Score Above State Average On ACTs
LWSD students scored double the national average for math ACT scores.

From LWSD: Once again, Lake Washington School District (LWSD) students achieved the highest scores on record for the ACT in 2018. The district’s average composite score increased back to its 2016 rate of 26.4, well above state and national averages.
LWSD students are more likely to meet college readiness standards than other students in Washington state or the U.S. Comparatively, more LWSD students score high enough to meet the ACT college readiness benchmark. ACT college readiness benchmarks are the minimum ACT college readiness assessment scores required for students to have a high probability of success in credit-bearing college courses.
Nationally, only 27 percent of students met this standard for all four subjects tested: College English Composition (English), College Algebra (Math), College Social Science (Reading) and College Biology (Science). Just 37 percent met the standard statewide. Sixty-three percent of the students in LWSD who took the ACT met the benchmark scores in all subjects tested.

“Our students continue to show outstanding achievement on standardized assessments,” noted Dr. Jane Stavem, Superintendent. “We know the ACT is one of many indicators we look at to determine how students are performing academically. We’re proud of the work of our schools and know that we have to support many aspects of student growth and development as they work hard to do their very best every day.”
