Redmond Police Shooting: Man Killed Was Suspect
Redmond detectives shot and killed the 39-year-old in Kirkland on Thursday evening.

KIRKLAND, WA - The man shot and killed by Redmond detectives on Thursday evening was a suspect in an ongoing investigation. The man, identified as a 39-year-old from the Kirkland-Redmond area, was armed at the time of the shooting, according to police.
The detectives were in the Kingsgate area of Kirkland around 5 p.m. Thursday looking for the suspect. They saw him pumping gas at the Safeway and approached. That's when the officers opened fire.
Kirkland police are investigating the shooting. Kirkland city spokesman Dave Wolbrecht sent out a press release Friday evening with more details about the shooting. But it was still unclear what the suspect did that prompted police to shoot.

"The deceased was not compliant with the investigators attempts to take him into custody and shots were fired," the Kirkland press release said.
Redmond police found a handgun on the man after the shooting.

Kirkland police knew the Redmond detectives were in the city looking for the suspect. His name has not been released pending notification of his family.
