Marchione Won't Run For Reelection In 2019
John Marchione has been Redmond mayor since 2008, and was recently appointed chair of the Sound Transit board.

REDMOND, WA - Redmond Mayor John Marchione, who has been in office for more than a decade, will not seek reelection in 2019. Marchione did not give a specific reason, only saying he wanted to "pass the baton" to someone new.
"This is a good time for me, professionally and personally, to pass the baton to the next elected official who will run the city," he said in a press release.
Marchione, 53, was just appointed to chair the Sound Transit board, a job that will continue through 2019. One of his priorities this year will be preparing Redmond for the arrival of light rail, according to city spokeswoman Lisa Maher.
