Measles Exposure Possible In King, Snohomish Counties
A child from Europe has been confirmed to have measles and has visited multiple locations in Snohomish and King counties.

REDMOND, WA - There has been a confirmed case of measles in Snohomish County, and the child who has the virus has visited multiple locations in King and Snohomish counties, according to health officials.
The measles victim has primarily visited locations in Everett and Monroe, according to the Snohomish Health District.
According to King County, "measles is a highly contagious and potentially severe disease that causes fever, rash, cough, and red, watery eyes. It is mainly spread through the air after a person with measles coughs or sneezes. Measles symptoms begin seven to 21 days after exposure. Measles is contagious from approximately four days before the rash appears through four days after the rash appears.

"People can spread measles before they have the characteristic measles rash.People at highest risk from exposure to measles include those who are un-vaccinated, pregnant women, infants under six months of age and those with weakened immune systems."
The child with the confirmed case of measles visited multiple locations in the region with a group.

"Confirmation came in late on July 6, and the Health District has been working with the host family to piece together the minor’s activities over the last few weeks. Before diagnosed, the minor may have exposed others to measles at the following locations" the Snohomish County Health District wrote in a press release.
