Memorial Procession For Bothell Firefighter Planned Thursday
A motorcade will travel from Bothell to Redmond ahead of a memorial service honoring the life of Lt. Kirk Robinson.

REDMOND, WA — A funeral procession for a Bothell firefighter will travel to Redmond on Thursday ahead of a memorial service at Overlake Christian Church. Lieutenant Kirk Robinson passed away this month following a two-year battle with cancer. He was a firefighter in Bothell for 18 years.
The city says Robinson joined the fire department in April 2001 and traveled to New York City to assist in the aftermath of 9/11 just five months later. In 2005, he was deployed to help those devastated by Hurricane Katrina. City leaders described Robinson as a beloved member of the Bothell Fire Department, known for his deep passion and devotion to his community. In addition to his work with Bothell Fire, Robinson served on water rescue teams, the honor guard, and Mercer Island's Marine Patrol. Every year he participated in the Firefighter Stair Climb and helped organize annual department fundraisers.
Thursday's service is open to the public and will be live-streamed on social media starting at 1 p.m. A memorial procession comprised of nearly 80 police and fire vehicles will leave Pop Keeny Stadium shortly after 11 a.m. The motorcade will travel along Interstate 405 and is expected to arrive at Overlake Christian Church before noon. Some temporary road closures will be in place through Bothell, Redmond and Kirkland.
