Muslim Scriptures Teach Kindness

What are the Muslim parents in Redmond teaching their children in word and deed?

What are Muslim men and women teaching their children? The religion of Islam gives guidance for family life in their Holy Scripture, the Qur’an. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “One who learns the Qur’an and teaches it to others is the best among you.” Through Qur’anic teachings men and women learn kindness, for example, how to treat aging parents. The Qur’an says, “Thy Lord has commanded, ‘Worship none but Him, and show kindness to parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age with thee, never say unto them any word expressive of disgust nor reproach them, but address them with excellent speech,”’ (17:24). What about folks missing family ties? The Qur’an urges people to be kind to all around them. “And worship God and associate naught with Him, and show kindness to parents, and to kindred, and orphans, and the needy, and to the neighbor that is a kinsman and the neighbor that is a stranger, and the companion by your side, and the wayfarer, and those whom your right hands possess. Surely, God loves not the proud and the boastful” (4:37).

Islam offers help to all through its teachings. Gratitude to our parents in this life becomes the groundwork for happiness on and beyond Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Parents’ Day. By learning to cover faults and forgive them, people better understand how to apply Godly attributes of mercy to all humanity. The Qur’an, as lived during the lifetime of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is true Islam. As a boy he watched his own mother die, yet his love for The Creator deepened, and at age forty he began delivering the words revealed to him by the angel Gabriel. Over a span of 22 years the teachings of the Qur’an civilized the feuding pagans of 7th century Arabia. Might not those teachings help humanity now? With WWIII knocking at the door can mankind explore this way back from the brink of fire? His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the worldwide spiritual leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community tells Ahmadi Muslims to make peace at home then reach out with love for all hatred for none. He bravely warns any Muslim scholars who twist the teachings of Islam to stop and return to true Islam whose teachings promote peace through justice.
