Overlake Park-And-Ride Now Closed; South Bellevue Next

The Overlake park-and-ride lot will be closed for six years, and a south Bellevue park-and-ride will close soon.

REDMOND, WA - The six-year closure of the Overlake Transit Center's park-and-ride lot began Monday morning. Commuters can still catch buses and other shuttles at Overlake, but drivers will have to wait until the new Redmond Technology Center light rail station is complete to park near the station again. This is the first of two park-and-ride closures slated for this month.

Sound Transit has opened several new lots to make up for the disruption. There are seven new lots between SR 520 and I-90 in Bellevue and Redmond, in addition to a number of existing lots. You can find new lots using Sound Transit's interactive parking map. Additionally, King County has created a resource page to help commuters find new ways to get around.

On May 30, Sound Transit will close the South Bellevue Park-and-Ride for about five years. Sound Transit express buses and King County Metro buses will continue to serve the station.

The park and ride lots will be used for construction staging as crews begin the construction of the new East Link light rail line. Eventually, Sound Transit will construct a 320-stall parking garage at the new Redmond Technology Center light rail station.
