Redmond Hosting 2 'Coffee With A Cop' Events

Redmond officers will be available to chat with city residents at two events next week.

REDMOND, WA - Redmond police will host two "coffee with a cop" events next week. The events are aimed at breaking down barriers between police and city residents.

Here's more from the city of Redmond:

Coffee with a Cop is a national movement which focuses on building relationships between law enforcement and community members. It brings people together at neutral locations to foster real conversations about issues that matter. In a short time, citizens and police officers get to know each other and discover mutual goals for the communities they live in and serve.

The program was started in 2011 by the Hawthorne, California Police Department and has created thousands of successful events. The key to this successful growth is that the program opens the door for interactions outside of the crisis situations that typically bring law enforcement officers and community members together.

The Redmond Police Department joined the movement in June of 2015 and has held many events so far. We enjoy getting to know community members, answering their questions and building lasting relationships.
