Redmond Light Rail Design Open House This Week

Members of the public are invited to view updated design plans and help shape the look and feel of light rail in Redmond.

From Sound Transit: Sound Transit will hold an open house this week in Redmond about the Downtown Redmond Link Extension, scheduled to open in 2024.

· Thursday, November 16, from 5-7 p.m. at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center, 16600 NE 80th St., Redmond

In 2016 voters approved funding to design and build Link light rail to downtown Redmond. This project extends Link 3.4 miles along SR 520, from the future Redmond Technology Center station (at NE 40th St.) to downtown Redmond, with a station and park-and-ride access in southeast Redmond near Marymoor Park.

Community members are invited to provide input on station look and feel, view updated plan designs and learn about the updated environmental review, project timeline and next steps.

Those who aren’t able to attend the open house can provide comments through an online survey at www.redmondlink.org. The survey will be open Nov. 16 - 30.

Over the next year, Sound Transit will seek input and further refine the project; analyze potential environmental impacts; and begin preliminary engineering. Construction is expected to begin in 2020, with light rail open for service by 2024.
