Redmond Needs Volunteers For Parking Management Committee

From the City of Redmond: The City of Redmond Planning and Community Development department is looking for seven to nine volunteers to serve on a limited duration public Advisory Committee in 2018 to help develop a Downtown Parking Management Strategic Plan.

Downtown Redmond is transforming. In the coming years, this area will continue to see more residents, visitors, commuters and employees. New private developments are anticipated, Downtown Park will open in 2018 and light rail will arrive in 2024. As Downtown Redmond grows into a vibrant destination and transit hub, parking management will remain important for the area’s success.

To prepare for this next phase of Downtown, we need to have a comprehensive and current picture of available parking resources, followed by a roadmap for how we can better manage parking.
The committee is open to all volunteers, but we are specifically looking for:

• Redmond residents
• Downtown employees, property owners or business representatives
• Residential property managers or representatives
• Frequent visitors to Downtown Redmond (can be a resident of a neighboring city)
• Commuters who utilize transit facilities Downtown

Committee members will be expected to attend meetings typically one to two times a month over the course of 2018. Members will be asked to discuss and provide input to city staff that will help shape parking management policy. Providing input on firsthand parking experiences will be valuable, as well as collecting feedback from neighbors and others in the community if needed. In the first phase of this process members will provide input on how to best develop an Existing Conditions Report and weigh in on methodology for parking counts, survey and utilization.
