Redmond Passes Cultural Inclusion Resolution

The City Council passed the resolution to improve the city's "culture of inclusion."

REDMOND, WA - The City Council this week passed a resolution around cultural inclusion, aiming to reaffirm the city's commitment to including residents and visitors of all groups.

The resolution was brought by Mayor John Marchione, the City Council, and the Arts and Culture Commission.

“Redmond continues to grow and become increasingly diverse in so many areas. It's what makes our community richer and stronger. We want to ensure that everyone in Redmond feels welcome and part of this community, no matter their heritage, ethnic background, religion or any other factor,” Redmond City Councilmember Hank Margeson said in a statement.

Aside from generally welcoming people of all stripes to the city, the resolution also provides some guidance for the arts commission to promote diversity.

"Empowering the Redmond Arts and Culture Commission to promote our culture of inclusion through arts and cultural activities and initiatives," the resolution reads.
