REDMOND, WA — Redmond police Chief Kristi Wilson will retire in June after 32 years in law enforcement, according to city officials. While the city searches for a replacement, Redmond fire Chief Tommy Smith will serve as the city's Public Safety Director.

Wilson began her law enforcement career in Anacortes, but has been with Redmond police for the last 26 years. Her official retirement date will be June 7. Wilson has also been serving as interim public works director since December.

"I will carry the personal connections I have made within the department, community, and the region with me as I begin this next chapter in my life," she said in a statement.
