Cabaret (Aug. 17-Sept. 2): The scene is a night club in Berlin, as the 1920s are drawing to a close. The Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience to the show and assures them that, whatever their troubles, they will forget them at the Cabaret. His songs provide wry commentary throughout the show. On the train to Berlin we find Cliff, a young American writer, and Ernst, a German who surprises Cliff by putting his briefcase among Cliff's luggage at the German border. History is in the process of being made. Musical numbers include It Couldn't Please Me More, Willkommen, Cabaret, Don't Tell Mama and Two Ladies. We find Cliff on the train again, now leaving Berlin alone. He writes about Sally and the people of Berlin leading up to the Third Reich. It has been a tumultuous and heartbreaking era.

Zombie Prom (Oct. 12-28): This "girl loves ghoul, rock-and-roll, Off Broadway musical" is set in the atomic 1950s at Enrico Fermi High, where the law is laid down by a zany, tyrannical principal. Pretty senior Toffee has fallen for the class bad boy. Family pressure forces her to end the romance, and he charges off on his motorcycle to the nuclear waste dump. He returns glowing and determined to reclaim Toffee's heart. He still wants to graduate, but most of all he wants to take Toffee to the prom. The principal orders him to drop dead while a scandal reporter seizes on him as the freak du jour. History comes to his rescue while a tuneful selection of original songs in the style of 50s hits keeps the action rocking across the stage.

A Christmas Carol (Dec. 7-23): This original adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol is rich with exciting ensemble music, alive with color and movement, and is created to tell this enduring tale in a fashion that will appeal to people of all ages.  Join the SSR family and celebrate this timeless seasonal classic right here in Redmond.

How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (Feb. 8-March 3): Power, sex, ambition, greed... it's just another day at the office. From the authors of Guys and Dolls comes one of the most delightfully irreverent musicals of all time. A satire of big business and all it holds sacred, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying follows the rise of J. Pierrepont Finch, who uses a little handbook called "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying" to climb the corporate ladder from lowly window washer to high-powered executive, tackling such familiar but potent dangers as the aggressively compliant "company man," the boss' whiny, nepotistic nephew, the office party, backstabbing co-workers, caffeine addiction and, of course, true love.

Rent (April 12-May 5): Based loosely on Puccini's La Boheme, Rent follows a year in the life of a group of friends struggling to make it in the big city. They include Mark, a filmmaker and the narrator of the story; his former girlfriend, Maureen, a performance artist; Maureen's lover, Joanne, a public interest lawyer; Mark's roommate Roger, a musician; Mimi, an exotic dancer, with whom Roger falls in love; Tom Collins, a computer genius; Collins' lover, Angel, a street musician and drag queen; and Benny, a former member of the group who, after marrying into a wealthy family, has become their landlord. How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves, and conflicts provides the narrative thread to this groundbreaking musical.

Moon Over Buffalo (June 14-30): Charlotte and George Hay, an acting couple not exactly the Lunts are on tour in Buffalo in 1953 with a repertory consisting of Cyrano de Bergerac" revised, one nostril version" and Noel Coward's Private Lives. This backstage farce by the author of Lend Me a Tenor brought Carol Burnett back to Broadway co-starring with Philip Bosco as her megalomaniac, drunken husband and leading man. Fate has given these thespians one more shot at starring roles in The Scarlet Pimpernel epic, and director Frank Capra himself is en route to Buffalo to catch their matinee performance. Will Charlotte appear or run off with their agent? Will George be sober enough to emote? Will Capra see Cyrano, Private Lives or a disturbing mixture of the two? Hilarious misunderstandings pile on madcap misadventures in this valentine to Theater Hams everywhere.

Theater 4 Young Audiences

Duck For President (Sept. 4-30): This award-winning team returns with a sequel to Click, Clack, Moo. Duck is tired of doing his chores (mowing the lawn and grinding the coffee beans), and decides to hold an election to replace Farmer Brown. When he wins, Duck quickly realizes that running a farm requires too much hard work, and sets out to run for governor. With the help of the hens, and speeches "that only other ducks can understand," he eventually ends up running the country. Executive office gives him a headache, however, so Duck returns to the farm to work on his autobiography. This hilarious tale is a perfect introduction for youngsters to the flurry of presidential campaigns.

The Frog Prince (Nov. 9-25): The Princess is not supposed to be down by the well because the Old Witcher Woman practices her black magic nearby ... but the Princess does not always behave. When she loses her precious golden ball down the well, a Frog comes to the rescue and retrieves it. All he desires in return is her promise of friendship, but the Princess breaks her word. When the King discovers this, he intervenes and insists that his daughter fulfill her part of the bargain.

A Christmas Carol Jr. (Dec. 8, 15 and 22): This one-hour long original adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol is rich with exciting ensemble music, alive with color and movement, and is created to tell this enduring tale in a fashion that will appeal to even the youngest theater-goers. Join the SSR family and celebrate this timeless seasonal classic right here in Redmond.

Puss in Boots (Jan. 11-27): Based on the original tale written by Charles Perrault, SSR proudly presents this fast paced comic romp around the French countryside as we meet Puss. This feline is no ordinary cat! Using trickery and deceit, Puss gains power, wealth, and the hand of a princess in marriage for Puss' penniless master. This tale stresses the importance of possessing industry and savoir faire and the virtues of dress and countenance to win the heart of a princess.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (March 15-30): The classic tale of a young princess driven to the woods by her jealous stepmother. She finds a home with seven kindly dwarves, but the wicked queen will not rest until Snow White is no longer her rival. She tries to kill Snow White by sending her Huntsman, but the Huntsman cannot bear to hurt the little princess. She spies and sneaks, and eventually tricks the girl into eating a poisoned apple that puts her into a deep sleep, broken only by true love's kiss. In the meantime, the Huntsman searches far and wide, and finds a Prince to break the spell.

Pinkalicious the Musical (May 17-June 2): This is the tale, based on the popular book by Victoria Kann and Elizabeth Kann, of a little girl named Pinkalicious who can't stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor's office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe - a dream come true for this pink loving enthusiast. But when her hue goes too far, only Pinkalicious can figure out a way to get out of this pink predicament. Pinkalicious the Musical is about learning the power of self-control and the importance of moderation.
