Spring break essentials

Plan ahead for your upcoming travels and double check your list for our spring break essentials to keep your skin looking radiant!

Spring is here, which may mean an upcoming vacation just around the corner. Whether you’re finishing up with school, a long workweek, or a busy schedule, there are a few spring essentials that will keep your skin and body healthy in foreign temperatures. Here are some of our recommended items not to leave behind on your vacation travels.

· Sunscreen

Perhaps one of the most important items to include is an SPF to keep on you throughout the day. Even when it does not appear to be sunny, the sun’s powerful rays are still able to penetrate the skin and cause damage. It is crucial to evenly apply sun protectant all over the body and face a few times daily when exposed to more significant temperatures. For a daily face moisturizer with SPF we recommend Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF 50. This hydrating moisturizer provides the benefits of anti-aging while also battling harsh UV rays. An all over body SPF is also ideal and we would recommend hitting the local drugstore for a waterproof sun block of at least 30. Some people prefer a spray on while others choose to apply a thicker cream.

· Moisturizer

Warmer temperatures can be drying on the skin, creating the need for heavier moisture than you may require daily. We recommend incorporating a serum into your regimen that boosts skin cell regeneration and helps to lock in moisture. Two that we love are HydroPeptide’s Soothing Serum, which helps reduce redness and comfort sensitive skin, and their Even Out, for those looking to help repair hyperpigmentation from over-exposure to the sun.

· Nail polish

A bottle of your current nail color for any touch-ups is a great addition to your toiletry bag. Scheduling a mani/pedi just before trip time is always a good idea, but at InSpa we know your busy lives don’t always allow for your manicure or pedicure to always remain in tip-top shape. Some of our guests like to carry a bottle of their favorite OPI nail polish when on vacation to cover any chipping that may occur. The new OPI Hawaii collection features some of the most fun and bright spring colors of 2015 and can be found on our shelves, in addition to a wide variety of other colors.

· Sunglasses

Sunglasses are a travel essential! They protect the eyelids, which are the most sensitive skin on your body. Shading the skin around the eyes prevents harmful UV rays from penetrating the skin, avoiding risk for skin cancer. Sunglasses are most effective when they block out 99 to 100 percent of UVA and UVB light. Squinting is also another factor in premature wrinkles and can be avoided with a good pair of shades.

· Spring lip color

A fun spring lip color is a travel essential when your vacation plans consist of a low maintenance beauty regimen. Our customer favorite is the HydroPeptide Perfecting Gloss that comes in three shades, complimenting all skin tones. This volumizing lip plumper soothes and hydrates lips while providing long term lip smoothing and enhancing benefits.

· Body butter

Skin care doesn’t stop with the face. Taking care of the skin on our bodies is just as important and can be done so easily with the right moisturizer. Whether or not you plan on spending time in the sun, moisturizing the body daily is essential to maintain great skin. We recommend using Whish Body Butter that comes in a pump bottle and is compact for travel. Made with organic ingredients, this lotion rejuvenates dry skin and firms without a greasy consistency.

· Lip balm

This is perhaps one of the most forgotten skin care essentials for not only vacation, but for everyday activity. Our lips are just as, if not more, sensitive than the skin on our face and should also properly be cared for. Applying a lip balm with SPF is recommended throughout the day. Another alternative is the Dermalogica Renewal Lip Complex that battles signs of aging while locking in moisture to restore dehydrated skin. This product should be used daily and provides noticeable results with antioxidants and rich oils.
