Surprise Snowstorm Hits Western Washington During Monday Rush Hour

A quick-moving snowstorm dropped 1 to 3 inches in spots north of I-90 Monday morning.

REDMOND, WA - The region experienced a somewhat unexpected snowstorm Monday morning that dropped several inches of snow in areas north of Seattle and I-90.

Depending on where you live, you either saw no snow, or a lot of snow. In some parts of Kirkland and Redmond, up to 3 inches fell, and the Lake Washington School District switched to a two-hour delay. Snowfall was largely elevation-dependent, with areas above 200 feet seeing more snow.

But areas south of I-90, like Renton and Mercer Island, saw only a wet dusting - although snow showers were expected to continue throughout the day Monday.
