Thief Swaps Broken Honda For One That Doesn't Belong To Him

Two Hondas were parked next to each other in Redmond. One was broken down, one was working. Guess which one got stolen.

REDMOND, WA - We know at least one thing about this car thief: he's really loyal to Honda.

Last Wednesday around 8 a.m., a man living along the 18600 block of Redmond Way looked outside and noticed something strange. His Honda was missing, but it had been replaced with a broken-down Honda.

The night before the theft, the victim had noticed an unfamiliar Honda parked next to his. The victim observed the owner of the unfamiliar Honda trying and failing to jump-start the car, according to Redmond police.

When police arrived came to investigate, they discovered that the broken-down Honda left behind had previously been stolen out of Marysville.

While it might be fun to think the car thief really likes Honda, that's probably not the case.

For years, the Accord and Civic models have topped the list of most-frequently stolen cars in the U.S. Why? Insurance experts believe it's because those models are very popular, and there are simply more of them out there. On top of that, the parts are interchangeable, so a thief can sell even an old Accord or Civic on the black market and earn some quick cash.

Redmond police are still investigating this latest Honda theft.
