Tree Branch Falls On Woman In Redmond: Report

The branch fell on the woman at Idylwood Park on Thursday afternoon.

REDMOND, WA - A woman in her 30s was injured Thursday by a falling tree branch at Idylwood Park on Lake Sammamish, according to reports. The woman's injuries were described as non-life threatening but serious. A life guard at the park was able to provide her assistance at the scene.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. Thursday at the popular lakefront park. The park was cordoned off while parks department employees figure out if any other branches were in danger of falling.

Redmond city spokeswoman Becky Range told KIRO 7 that the woman sustained shoulder and facial injuries. An arborist told the station that the tree that fell was a cottonwood, which are prone to collapse during dry conditions.
