Volunteers Needed For 2018 National Day Of Service

A grocery drive for the 2018 day of service is seeking volunteers from Redmond and Sammamish.

REDMOND, WA - The 2018 National Day of Service happens May 19, and the organizers of a local food drive need volunteers. The food drive will benefit local students, and volunteers are needed for tasks ranging from transporting donated food to helping out with a "packing party."

Here are the details:

Volunteers will be asking shoppers at grocery stores if they would like to purchase and donate (from a list of desired foods) to support Pantry Packs (Lake Washington School District) and Power Packs (Riverview School District).

Event Captains act as "point person" at each store location and transport all collected food donations to Sammamish Hills Lutheran Church (22818 SE 8th St, Sammamish) on May 19 for the afternoon "packing party." As date draws near, Event Captains will be provided lists of needed food items, posters and boxes to collect food donations.

Pantry Packs and Power Packs are programs in which students, who are in need of food, receive small packs of food to take home from school on weekends.
