Woman Killed While Crossing Redmond Street

The driver, a 35-year-old man, did not show any signs of impairment, according to police.

REDMOND, WA - A woman was hit by a driver and killed Friday night while walking in a crosswalk along 152nd Avenue Northeast, according to Redmond police.

The collision happened around 5 p.m. near just north of Northeast 24th Street in between two shopping plazas. The driver was turning left out of a driveway in a large van when he hit the woman. Bystanders tried to revive the woman, but she died at the scene.

The 35-year-old driver cooperated with police and was not impaired, according to police. Police believe weather and darkness were major factors in the collision.

The woman was in her 60s or 70s, according to police. Her identity will be released later by the King County Medical Examiner.
