Aurora aims to explain important aspects of the law and the role of the Fair Housing Center of WA and partner organizations.

ABOUT HOUSING CENTER OF WASHINGTON:

The Fair Housing Center of Washington is a nonprofit organization that has been in existence since 1995. The Fair Housing Center serves western and central Washington by accepting and investigating complaints of housing discrimination, conducting training and education for housing providers and housing consumers to prevent and address discrimination in housing. In addition, the Fair Housing Center conducts rental, sales and mortgage lending testing. It also works with cities and counties to assess impediments to fair housing choice and implement policy to affirmatively further fair housing.

ABOUT NAMI EASTSIDE:

NAMI Eastside is the East King County affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. We are a community-based non-profit organization that provides services that focus on the concerns of all those affected by mental illness. Our members include families, friends, clinicians and people living with mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, general anxiety disorder, ADHD and many others. We currently run over 12 different support groups across east King County for individuals and families, many of which occur each week, we provide mental health education and training for law enforcement, give presentations to organizations, schools and hospitals, have monthly public forums, provide educational courses to parents, caregivers, and individuals affected by mental illness, and we have a public policy committee dedicated to improving mental health legislation in Washington State.

Since January 2001 we have worked with all those affected by mental illness in Beaux Arts, Bellevue, Bothell, Carnation, Clyde Hill, Duvall, Fall City, Hunts Point, Issaquah, Juanita, Kenmore, Kirkland, Medina, Mercer Island, Mill Creek, Newcastle, North Bend, Redmond, Sammamish, Snoqualmie, Woodinville, and Yarrow Point.
