The 23-year-old woman was gravely injured while riding along Rainier Avenue North in Renton Friday evening.

RENTON, WA - A 23-year-old woman was critically injured Friday night when a man apparently high on drugs hit her on Rainier Avenue North. The suspect had 25 prior arrests and 6 DUI convictions, according to Renton police.

The collision happened along the 400 block of Rainier Avenue North, just north of Airport Way.

Rainier Avenue between Seattle and Renton is heavily traveled by bicyclists. There are bike lanes on both side of the busy road, but they are not protected from traffic. In July, Alex Hayden, 50, died while biking along Rainier just north of where the Friday night collision happened. He was hit by a pickup truck that turned into the bike lane.
