3 Teens Arrested In Renton Armed Carjacking Investigation
According to Seattle police, a 13-year-old boy was carrying a gun used in a Wednesday carjacking.
RENTON, WA — Investigators in Renton and Seattle took three young teens into custody this week after a driver reported their car was stolen at gunpoint Wednesday night. According to the Seattle Police Department, officers in Renton notified them of a carjacking around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, believing the vehicle was near Pritchard Island Beach.
Seattle officers found the car a few blocks from the South Precinct, pulled the vehicle over and detained the three young people inside. SPD said Renton officers responded to the scene and took a 16-year-old driver and 15-year-old passenger into custody on suspicion of being involved with the earlier carjacking.
According to Seattle police, the third teen in the car was just 13 years old and was believed to be carrying the gun. Officers took the gun into evidence, released the boy to his mother and sought criminal charges for unlawful possession of a firearm.
