6 Shot Near Kent Shopping Center

Six people have been shot at a Kent near a shopping center on Pacific Highway South, and three people have been detained by police.

KENT, WA — Six people have been injured in a shooting near a shopping center in Kent.

Puget Sound Fire says their crews were dispatched to a "scene of violence" at around 6 p.m. near the intersection of Kent Des Moines Road and Pacific Highway South.

According to Kent Police, that's where one of their officers was flagged down by one of the six shooting victims, who asked them for help. Police then provided medical assistance until medics arrived and rushed five of the victims to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for emergency treatment for gunshot wounds. Harborview says two of the patients are in critical condition, the other three are in serious condition. The sixth shooting victim only had minor injuries, and did not need to be taken to the hospital

The six victims have only been identified as males, with ages ranging from 16 to 49.

Several hours after the shooting police released an update, confirming that the shooting was not random and that the victims and potential suspects knew each other beforehand. Officers have detained three people they say are involved in the shooting, but they also say they don't know how involved those three were, and that they are not officially suspects.
