SEATTLE, WA - The Seattle Seahawks mourned Cortez "Tez" Kennedy on Tuesday night by shutting off the lights at CenturyLink Field, leaving just a single spotlight shining on Kennedy's No. 96 hanging high above the field. Kennedy died Tuesday at his home in Orlando at age 48. Kennedy, a defensive tackle who played 11 seasons with the Seahawks beginning in 1990, is considered one of greatest Seahawks players ever to take the field.

Past and present players and coaches have been mourning the loss of Kennedy since news of his death broke Tuesday morning.

"A terrible day, RIP to a close friend and great mentor Cortez Kennedy," Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham wrote. "My heart goes out to his family and friends."

Adding some levity, one sports writer wrote that Kennedy was one of the greatest Kennedys ever, behind only John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy.
