AT&T Providing Wireless Communications Support to Washington National Guard's "Evergreen Tremors" Disaster Preparedness Exercise in Renton
Fictional Exercise at King County Emergency Communications facility in Renton Simulates a Large Earthquake Event
AT&T Vanguard is providing communications support to the Washington National Guard Exercise, “Evergreen Tremors.” The exercise is being conducted in Renton now to test and improve the community’s overall preparedness for an emergency event. The fictional exercise simulates a large earthquake event. The AT&T Remote Mobility Zone (ARMZ) communication system is providing connectivity where there is no cellular or data service from standard Macro towers. If these towers are destroyed or knocked off line, ARMZ is deployed and used to establish communications between emergency respond agencies for recovery effort. The exercise is running all day and night from June 17 to June 24 at the King County Emergency Communications facility in Renton.
The AT&T Remote Mobility Zone (ARMZ) communication system has been deployed in real disaster situations, such as tornados, wild fires, gas explosions, and more in the Pacific Northwest, including: flooding in Oregon, the Oso Mud Slide, Okanogan fires and I-5 Skagit River bridge collapse.
