UPDATE: Hazen/Lindbergh Advance to Districts

Highlanders and Eagles look to return to state

UPDATE - 5/3/2013 7 a.m.

Hazen and Lindbergh baseball teams advance to next weeks 3A and 2A District baseball championships. Hazen beat Decatur 5-3; while Lindbergh beat Franklin Pierce 6-1.

Matt Stuart hit a home run in the second inning. Cameron Callen's single drove in two runs in their third inning; hitting a triple in the fifth inning.  Enrique Martinez struck out seven batters in six and two-thirds innings. Lindbergh secures a fifth seed to next week's 2A Districts. The Eagles open district play Tuesday at Franklin Pierce High School at 7 p.m. They will play the Olympic League fourth seed in a loser out game. (Tournament Bracket)

Details of Hazen's game were not reported. The Highlanders open 3A District play on Tuesday against the Greater St. Helen's League #3 seed at Auburn Mountainview High School at 7 p.m. (Tournament Bracket)

Hazen and Lindbergh baseball teams lost their opening Sub-District playoff game Wednesday. The Highlanders lost to Peninsula 2-1; the Eagles lost to Orting 6-1.

Lindbergh's only run came in the bottom of the first when Tyler Gould drove in the run. The team was led by Cam Callen who went 2-for-4 with a double. The Eagles will play Franklin Pierce May 2.

Information on Hazen's game was not report. The Highlanders face  Decatur on Thursday, May 2

Both teams will qualify for the West District Championship next week.

The Hazen baseball team ended the regular season with a 8-3 loss Saturday playing at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma against a potential playoff opponent in Bonney Lake.

The Highlanders finish the regular season at 13-1 league and 14-4 overall; securing the league's #1 seed heading into Wednesday's 3A Sub-District tournament at Auburn Mountainview High School. They will face Peninsula in the opener at 4 p.m.

Lindbergh baseball secured the league's 2A Sub-District seed with a 10-4 league, 11-4 overall record. The Eagles will play Orting on May 1. The Eagles missed last year's state tournament.
