Beaches In Renton, Kirkland Closed Due To Bacteria
Another round of beach closures in King County was announced Wednesday.
RENTON, WA — King County closed Lake Washington beaches in Kirkland and Renton on Wednesday after water tests showed potentially harmful bacteria counts.
Houghton Beach in Kirkland and Gene Coulon in Renton — which was closed for several weeks in July for this same reason — will likely remain closed until after the weekend, when King County returns to re-test the water.
In Kirkland, the three most recent water tests returned bacteria levels above acceptable levels. But a single test at Gene Coulon from Monday showed levels of 1,880 colony-forming units of bacteria per 100 milliliters of water. The high end of the safe range is 1,000 CFL.
