The boy is in critical but stable condition at Harborview after he was possibly shot, Renton police say.

RENTON, WA — A young boy was hospitalized on Memorial Day after he was hit by some kind of projectile at a park along the Cedar River Trail, according ton Renton police.

The boy's mother found the wound as the family was preparing to leave Riverview Park on Monday at around 6 p.m. The boy was taken to Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, but later transferred to Harborview, where he remains in critical but stable condition.

The boy's mother told police she heard a "pop," but thought it was fireworks. However, police said there were no reports of gunfire at Riverview Park on Monday. Police did not know as of Tuesday if the boy was shot by a regular gun, or by some type of high-powered air gun.
