A burglar was shot and killed by a SeaTac homeowner Thursday. Now a GoFundMe page is raising money for his girlfriend and their son.

SEATAC, WA - Elgin Grant was shot and killed Thursday by SeaTac homeowner during a burglary attempt. Now a GoFundMe page has been started in his memory to raise money for his girlfriend and their son. Grant's girlfriend, Mashawnda Clay, 20, needed heart replacement surgery after the birth of their son in April.

The GoFundMe page was started in Grant's honor by Shantell Clayton. She described Grant as "a great father, brother and friend."

"His son was always with him especially during the times his woman Mashawnda Clay was in the hospital for heart failure," Clayton wrote.

On her Facebook page, Clay wrote a tribute to Grant who she called an "amazing person."

"We had no one to depend on and honestly barely anywhere to sleep at times though we made sure our baby was safe," she wrote. "There's a lot of things we both did to stay a float for our son. Yes we regret a lot of it. But he had no real help."

According to the King County Sheriff's Office, SeaTac police received a call at 11 a.m. regarding a burglary at the 17600 block of 38th Ave. S. The caller also said shots had been fired.

The 35-year-old homeowner said he went to investigate a sound and found two men attempting to open the window to a room where his two toddlers were sleeping. He fired multiple shots at the two men, striking one of them. Elgin Grant was found dead in the homeowner's yard.

The other suspect fled the scene and has not been located. The case is under investigation.
