Celebrating the Start of Rail Removal and Interim Trail Construction
A ceremony will be held on Oct. 17

From King County: We are writing to share an exciting update - beginning this month, we are working to remove rails and install gravel interim trail on five miles of the ERC!
On Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 10 a.m. we will kick off the project with a ceremonial rail spike removal event on the railbed just north of Gene Coulon Park. Please join us along with King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn and Renton Mayor Dennis Law as we mark this exciting trail milestone.
We invite you to come and take part in this exciting ceremony!
When: Oct. 17 at 10 a.m.
Where: Along the Eastside Rail Corridor across the street from 2815 through 2905 Mountain View Ave N, Renton, WA 98056
After we pull some spikes ourselves, the contractor will begin this month and complete the following work within 100 days:

- A four-mile section from Gene Coulon Park in Renton to Newcastle Beach Park in Bellevue, with connections at either end to the existing Lake Washington Loop Trail.
- A one-mile section from the Cross Kirkland Corridor at 108th Ave. NE to Northup Way (with a planned SR 520 Trail connection by Spring 2018). This section will also connect into Bellevue's Spring District south of SR 520, with a connection from the ERC to bike lanes on 120th Ave NE.
