Clerk Shot During Renton Highlands Robbery

RENTON, WA - A convenience store clerk was shot early Friday morning during a robbery in the Renton Highlands. The clerk was shot by one of the robbers when he did not move fast enough, Renton police reported.

The robbery happened at a store along Northeast Sunset Boulevard and Northeast 12th Street. The clerk was standing outside around 3:45 a.m. when two men holding handguns walked up to him. The robbers ordered the clerk inside.

But when the clerk moved too slowly for the robbers, they started beating him. During the struggle, a gun went off, wounding the clerk in the hand. His injuries were described by police as "non-life threatening."

The robbers were able to take cash and other items from the store. They fled the scene on foot.

The robbers covered their faces during the crime, but they were described as young men and each about 6 feet tall. If you know anything about the robbery, contact Renton police at (425) 430-7500
