Dick's Drive-In Decides Where To Put Newest Restaurant
Dick's held a contest earlier this year to decide where to locate its seventh drive-in restaurant.

RENTON, WA - The good news is that there will be a Dick's Drive-In south of Seattle. The bad news is that it won't be in Renton, Puyallup, Sumner, Tukwila, or any of the other South Sound cities that wanted it. The famous local chain announced Thursday that its new drive-in will be located in Kent.
Dick's will build the new restaurant along Highway 99 near Highline Community College. The company is buying a piece of the Midway Shopping Center and, as long as all permitting and planning goes well, the company will start construction next spring and finish the restaurant by the end of 2018.
“All of the south region cities have been very welcoming. It was very difficult to pick just one winner, but we can only build one restaurant at a time,” company Vice President Jasmine Donovan said in a release.

Over the winter, Dick's created an online poll for fans to vote for a new restaurant either "east" or "south." South - meaning south of Seattle - won with 60 percent of the vote.
Renton had been one of the most tenacious is courting Dick's - the city even changed its logo on Twitter to the Dick's logo. Before the "east" or "south" vote came in, the Redmond City Council passed a resolution formally asking for a Dick's in that city.
