RENTON, WA - A mother shot and killed her 14-year-old daughter Tuesday night during a domestic violence incident at a home in the Benson Hill area. The teen was killed while she was on the phone with 911, according to police.

The killing happened around 8:30 p.m. along the 4700 block of Smithers Avenue South.

According to police, the killing stemmed from the mother's recent loss of the custody of her children. The father and the children arrived at his house to find the mother there. That's when a fight broke out. The 14-year-old called 911 to report the incident, and that's when she was shot, police said.
