Driver Crashes Into House In Renton After Fleeing Police
An officer was in the middle of questioning a person in the car when he took off, police said.
RENTON, WA — A person who fled Renton police early Thursday morning ended up crashing into a house in the Benson Hill area, but no one was significantly hurt, according to police.
Renton police were called to the area where the incident happened at South 34th Street and Main Avenue South at around 7:30 a.m. A neighbor reported the red pickup truck as suspicious since it had been parked there since 1 a.m.
The responding officer detained the person in the driver's seat after spotting drug paraphernalia in the car, police said. The passenger then scooted into the driver's seat and hit the gas as the officer was leaning into the vehicle. The driver ended up hitting several cars and crashing into a house.

That person was arrested on charges of assaulting an officer, DUI, and warrants. A woman in the car was taken to Valley Medical Center for evaluation.
The officer had minor injuries and was taken to Valley Medical Center for an evaluation.
