Elderly Man Hit By Stray Bullet Wednesday Night: UPDATE
The shooting happened near midnight west of Renton.

SEATAC, WA - A 74-year-old man was critically injured when a stray bullet hit him in the head while he was asleep at home on Wednesday night.
UPDATE: Around 11 a.m. Thursday, officials reported that the man had died
The incident began around midnight Wednesday when police responded to a report of shots fired near the intersection of South 128th Street and 26th Avenue South, just west of Tukwila International Boulevard. Sheriff's deputies found shell casings on the ground and bullet holes in a car and home there.

Minutes later, the deputies were notified of the elderly shooting victim, who lives in a home adjacent to where the shooting happened. The stray bullet penetrated the wall of his home and hit him in the head. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, King County Sheriff's spokesperson Cindi West said.
Police are still investigating the cause of the shooting, and do not have a suspect description.
