RENTON, WA — A man accused of burglarizing several businesses in the Fairwood area Friday morning is in police custody following a standoff with a King County SWAT team.

The SWAT team and crisis negotiators responded to the 14200 block of Southeast Petrovitsky Road just before 9 a.m. A sheriff's office spokesperson said the man attempted to burglarize three different businesses in the area, stealing an estimated $1,300 in merchandise.

As law enforcement responded, deputies said the man barricaded himself inside an old shuttle bus, along with the stolen items. The situation came to end peacefully about two hours later, with the man leaving the bus and surrendering to investigators.
