Five Beaches In King County Closed Due To High Bacteria

Beaches in Redmond, Bellevue, Redmond, and Shoreline are affected by the closures, according to King County.

RENTON, WA — Five public beaches around the region will remain closed this weekend after King County found high levels of E. coli bacteria in the water.

This weekend, the Lake Washington beaches at Enatai and Newcastle parks in Bellevue, and Gene Coulon in Renton will remain closed. The Lake Sammamish beach at Idylwood Park in Redmond will also be closed, as will Hidden Lake beach at Shoreview Park in Shoreline.

The Idylwood and Coulon beaches have been closed before this season.

Lake Wilderness beach in Maple Valley was reopened this week. There's a no-contact warning for the water around Duck Island in Green Lake in Seattle due to toxic algae.

King County typically tests water quality at local beaches at the beginning of each week. You can see the bacteria levels for each closed beach at the county's website.
