Full Moon Brings Good Luck to $50,000 Lottery Winner
A Renton woman claims the full moon is the reason for her $50,000 win earlier this month.
A Renton woman claims the full moon is the reason for her $50,000 win earlier this month. The winner purchased a “Solid Gold” Scratch ticket at a Renton Safeway (17230 140th Ave. SE) on the evening of March 2, but waited to scratch it until the next morning – the day of the full moon.
“I’m just a little superstitious. Last night was a full moon, and usually around a full moon I win,” said the winner. Last year, she said she won $10,000 on two separate occasions playing Match 4. “This year is starting out pretty good!”
The longtime Washington’s Lottery player scratched her $20 ticket while enjoying her morning coffee. “I usually buy $5 tickets, but this one was calling my name so I thought to myself, ‘Okay, I’m going to splurge.’”

The woman said she first called her husband to share the news of her win. “He’s out of town right now so I had to tell him over the phone. When I called him, he thought I was joking! I sent him a picture and he said, ‘You weren’t kidding!’ He was very happy for me.”
When asked about plans for her winnings, she said there might be a new car in the future. “First, I want financial stuff to fall into place. This win came at a perfect time for us. I am very blessed.”
