Girl Hit By Car In Renton Remains Critical

The girl and her mother were both hit while crossing in a crosswalk near Benson Hill Elementary Monday morning.

RENTON, WA - A young girl who was hit by a car Monday morning while crossing a street near Benson Hill Elementary remained in critical condition in the intensive care unit at Harborview Medical Center Tuesday morning, according to a hospital spokesperson.

The girl and her mother were crossing in a crosswalk at the intersection of 116th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 184th Street, which is about two blocks north of Benson Hill Elementary.

According to police, a woman driving a pickup truck hit them while turning a corner. Police reported that the driver stopped at a stop sign, but then turned into the crosswalk where the mother and child were walking.

The driver of the car remained at the scene of the accident, according to Renton police.
