Photos: Fire Severely Damages Renton Home
The fire broke out in the basement of a home along Earlington Avenue Friday morning.

RENTON, WA - A home on the west side of Renton was severely damaged by a fire on Friday morning.
Firefighters responded to the 300 block of Earlington Avenue just before 10 a.m. There were several people inside the home when the fire broke out.
The homeowner - who did not want to give his name - told Patch.com that the fire began in the basement when a couch caught on fire. The homeowner's daughter and grandson were in the basement at the time, but were able to make it out safely. Firefighters were proceeding with caution putting out the fire due to a number of potential hazards around the home.

Although it appeared firefighters had the blaze under control, smoke was pouring out of the home and into the surrounding neighborhood. The home is located just off of Sunset Boulevard, west of the downtown Fred Meyer store.
