Fire Destroys Renton Home, Sparks Tree Fire
The fire had sparked a brush fire and caused damage to electrical lines, according to firefighters.
RENTON, WA - A house in southeast Renton was destroyed by a fire Friday morning, but firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading to a nearby large apartment complex. The fire also burned trees and caused power lines to fall, creating an extremely dangerous situation for firefighters.
The fire broke out around 9:30 a.m. Friday at a home along Southeast 177th Street, which is about one block south of Petrovitsky and 140th Avenue Southeast. Firefighters activated a second alarm, and firefighters from Kent cam to help.
A column of smoke could be seen rising from the fire several blocks away. The homeowner was not hurt in the fire.
