KING COUNTY — The polls have closed and the first results are rolling in for dozens of races across King County, including contests for King County Executive and five seats on the Metropolitan King County Council.

In the executive's race, incumbent Dow Constantine is seeking a fourth term at the helm of King County. He faces his first real challenge in 12 years from state Sen. Joe Nguyen. During the August primary, Constantine secured nearly 52 percent of the vote to Nguyen's 32.6 percent.

For the county council, the District 3 race garnered plenty of attention this election cycle, after longtime Republican incumbent Kathy Lambert's campaign sent a mailer that was widely decried as racist, leading to her recent removal from leadership roles. There were already signs of trouble in the primary, where Lambert picked up just 40 percent of the vote against a combined 59 percent among her two Democratic challengers.

She faces Sarah Perry, who trailed Lambert by just 4 points in the primary.
